BIFA 2021 Winner! | Ali & Ava – Best Music

We are incredibly proud to announce that ThinkSync’s, Connie Farr, alongside composer, Harry Escott, has won the 2021 British Independent Film Award for Best Music in Ali & Ava.

Dom Farley assisted with the music supervision and Claire Munro handled the licensing.

Clio Barnard’s ‘Ali & Ava’, received seven nominations including Best British Independent Film and Best Director. The best music award, a category sponsored by Universal Music Publishing Group, has been announced ahead of the ceremony on December 5th 2021.

Time Out said of the music in the film [the lead characters are] “soon bonding over the Buzzcocks and squabbling over whether or not you can dance to country music. It’s the glue that gradually bonds them, and the soundtrack is a drunken jukebox of Dylan, Daniel Avery, Irish folk and Sylvan Esso tunes.”

Check out the BIFA page here to read about the other craft winners and nominees across categories.

We are very grateful and congratulations to all the other winners!

Ali & Ava review | 2021 BFI London Film Festival

Variety shared a review of Ali & Ava from this years’ BFI London Film Festival.

Connie Farr handled the music supervision for this film.

“The film’s first memorable use of music comes as his car is being barraged. Ali puts on a track by neighborhood favorite MC Innes, and suddenly, the hostiles have dropped their rocks and are dancing along. The next time Ali and Ava meet, he has his headphones on, and she’s got folk playing on her earbuds. With just a little bit of ingenuity, they find a way to enjoy their conflicting musical preferences in one another’s company.”

BFI London Film Festival 2021

We are delighted that two amazing films and a tv series that we worked on premiered at the 65th BFI London Film Festival this year!

On 10th October, the premiere of ‘True Things’ directed by Harry Wootliff. The cinema was packed with cast & crew, industry professionals and film enthusiasts. It truly was a marvellous evening!

‘Ali and Ava’, directed by Clio Barnard, was presented on 13th October, as the Mayor of London’s Special Presentation film, at the Royal Festival Hall, by Film London and Sadiq Khan. What a privilege it was to have been involved in this production!

‘Curse of the Chippendales’, directed by Jesse Vile, tells the bizarre story of behind the scenes of the most popular male exotic dance show. The crime documentary was shown as part of the series section of the festival. We think this is must-watch, with a great 80’s soundtrack!

It was such a pleasure to be involved in all three of these projects, we are so proud of everyone who made them possible!

Congratulations everyone! 😊

Curse Of The Chippendales | Music Supervision

The new Discovery+ documentary series untangles the wild and chaotic web of male strip club Chippendales, its founder, and the sinister affairs that went on behind the scenes.

The documentary slowly tracks the club’s raging success through the first-person accounts of those involved in it. Everyone from dancers to law enforcement remains incredulous, decades later, at just how out-of-control and dangerous the backroom intrigue became.

Connie Farr was the music supervisor for the series, which features music from Kool and the Gang, Hot Chocolate, Loverboy, Simple Minds and A-Ha.
