ThinkSync are pleased to announce that we’ve placed Revolution by Atari Teenage Riot in the computer game Crackdown 2, which was released by Microsoft Game Studios on 7 July. Crackdown 2 is a violent free-for-all action fest available now on the Xbox 360 console.
We are delighted to announce that Brilliantlove, the film in which we controlled the music supervision, has recently been aired at the Edinburgh Film Festival.
Brilliantlove follows the relationship between photographer Manchester and his taxidermist girlfriend Noon, who are head-over-heals in lust for each other - well-documented through Manchester’s photos. This leads to their unintended exposure that transpires from a session at the pub in which Manchester leaves the revealing snaps behind, for the curious eyes of a wealthy collector. What ensues is a rapid rise to fame for Manchester, which brings with it plenty of unforseen consequences and uncovered truths.
The film was subject to the following reviews:
“brilliantlove, (is) a striking debut by Ashley Horner and this year’s “hot sex in cinema” shock. It’s certainly the most explicit British film since Michael Winterbottom’s 9 Songs, featuring really sweaty, ecstasy-fuelled sex between leads Liam Browne and Nancy Trotter Landry. I don’t know if it’s real sex - which always gets people in a bit of moral lather - but it certainly feels authentic, almost musty….there’s no denying the poetic headiness of the sex scenes nor the serious intentions of the film’s ideas about privacy, art, exploitation and porn.” - Jason Solomons, Edinburgh Film Festival Round Up, The Observer, UK
“The filmmaking style Horner utilized often involved long, stark takes to keep the tension and emotions at a fever pitch while allowing the activity on screen to unfold more naturally. You could feel the buzz in the theater coming from people’s bodies as they were viewing the raw passion and sincere vision of love on screen, very tastefully and attractively done I might add. The place was kind of unsure if they could feel comfortable, like they were almost embarrassed to, at first. That quickly faded to laughs at all the right times and impossible quietude for moments of drama that were unfolding continuously. So vision prevailed as Horner’s execution of Sean Conway’s tightly crafted script hopefully opens the gateway for more filmmakers to explore truth, to mine a real place inside humanity. * * * * * Five Stars” - Eric Shlapack, The Examiner, New York
“poetically intimate” - Eric Kohn, indieWIRE
“Brilliantlove is a gorgeous and dangerous marinade of passion, art, and ambition that languorously intoxicates the senses” - Roya Rastegar, Tribeca Film Festival
“An enrapturing, artistic film that will make you want to fall in love.” - Erin Whitney Faigh, Washington Square News, Pick of the Fest

“Possibly the most gripping piece of music you’ll hear this year!” (8/10) Single of the Week — Drowned in Sound
Codes in the Clouds’ debut album, Paper Canyon, is now available for download from the ThinkSync Music members page (click here and register to login). After receiving critical acclaim on both domestic (repeated plays by legendary BBC Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens) and international stations for their first double A-side Distant Street Lights / Fractures, CITC are set to take fans of instrumental rock music by storm.
Their debut album Paper Canyon was completed in just 5 days under the experienced eye of Justin Lockey (Bloc Party, Yourcodenameis: Milo, Enter Shakari). With a sound likened to Sigur Ros, this quintet from Kent are set to take the post-rock genre to new levels. Hailed as Ones to Watch by The Metro and Rock Sound, CITC have also gained widespread acclaim overseas.
After a string of sold out shows in the UK and Ireland, the band wrapped up 2009 with a European tour and are already developing a strong following in the US, being crowned the new rising stars of instrumental rock by online zine The Silent Ballet. With UK dates lined up for June and bookings at numerous summer festivals, 2010 is set to be a breakthrough year for Codes In The Clouds.

We’re excited to announce that we’re currently working with the BBC to place music in their upcoming series Lip Service. A mix of drama and dark comedy, Lip Service follows the romantic adventures and sexual exploits of three twenty-something lesbians in Glasgow, played by Laura Fraser, Ruta Gedmintas, and Fiona Button. Ruta portrays Frankie, a commitment-phobic photographer, while Laura plays Cat, her former lover who still harbours feelings for her. Fiona rounds off the cast as Tess, Cat’s best friend, who has the unfortunate tendency to attract all the wrong types of women (sometimes with hilarious results). Some of the Scottish talent we’ve placed in the series include musical artists ranging from the electropunk band Motormark to indie pop group Zoey Van Goey to Plum.

A fresher, more contemporary take on life as a lesbian, Lip Service is BBC’s answer to The L Word, and will premiere this spring on BBC3. Creator and writer Harriet Braun says, “I loved The L Word but it’s high time we saw some contemporary British lesbians, with all the bad weather, trips to the pub and repressed emotions that go with that. It will be as funny as it is pathos filled, because in my experience that’s how life is.” Check the Lip Service website for more details and up-to-date news on the show’s upcoming premiere.
ThinkSync Music is happy to announce we’ll be providing tracks for the forthcoming DVDs of popular BBC series Being Human. Being Human, a horror/comedy set in Bristol, follows the adventures of three unusual housemates–a werewolf, a vampire, and a ghost–just trying to live a normal life. The series has met with critical acclaim, with US-based TV Guide stating: “There are times when you don’t know whether to scream with fear or laughter. Being Human is frighteningly good.”
Being Human airs on BBC3, and is currently in its second season. The series is also currently being broadcast in the US on BBC America, and a US adaption has recently been authorised.

Dizzee Rascal’s “Dirtee Cash” (which ThinkSync Music’s partner Cacophony Music co-publishes) has had further success recently. The song, which was already A listed at Radio 1 weeks ahead of its official release and reached #10 in the UK singles chart last autumn, will be featured in DJ Hero 2 and was recently chosen for Dizzee’s performance at the Brit Awards. Dizzee performed a mash-up of the song with Florence and the Machine’s “You’ve Got the Love.” The duet, entitled “You Got the Dirtee Love,” was released within 5 hours on itunes, making it the fastest single release ever, and reached #3 in the itunes singles chart the day of its release. The mash-up entered the UK Singles Chart at #2 less than a week later. Meanwhile, Dizzee Rascal went home with a Brit Award for Best British Male Solo Artist.

We’re pleased to announce that we’ve recently added post rock band Codes in the Clouds to our roster. Codes in the Clouds have recently released their debut album, Paper Canyon, in the UK, and will release the record shortly in the US. Clash Music rated the album 8/10, and Rocksound.tv said “Rock Sound live faves, Codes in the Clouds, have created a debut record of real maturity…[it]suggests what’s to come next should be something really special.”

We’re thrilled to tell you that we’ve placed Richard Canavan’s version of Debussy’s classic, “Clair de Lune,” in upcoming film La Rafle. Films featuring Canavan’s compositions have previously won Best UK Short and Film of the Festival at Raindance International. Currently in post-production, La Rafle (The Round Up) deals with French officials’ involvement in the tragedies of the Holocaust. Jean Reno and Melnie Laurent star in the film, which tells the horrific tale of how French officers, under orders of the Vichy government, rounded up 13,000 Jews on the night of 16 July, 1942, eventually sending many of them to Auschwitz.
